Default Re-painting Interior Switch/Button Labels

Hello All,

I've run into a problem where the white text on the buttons on my steering wheel controls (especially cruise control) and stereo have begun to slowly rub off and disappear. This will soon leave me with some unlabeled buttons. Can anyone recommend a good way to resolve this aside from dropping cash on new switches? I'm open to repainting (stencil) but can't find any specialized paints for this purpose.

Thanks for any input,
Strtpls3

Not saying that what you want to do isn't possible, but think about how small the lettering is. Having said that, you're not going to find a stencil that would allow you to repaint them. I mean, sure it's possible if you're up to the task of doing it yourself. Even places like a vinyl sign shop would have a difficult time reproducing them. Your best bet is to replace the switches, radio, etc.

I've tried both hand painting and my attempt at "airbrushing" (read: model airplane kit spray gun and stencils) the lables back on buttons before. 2 things I learned from it was make sure you really really watch how you take the button apart if you are removing it to paint it, and the painting you do will rub off 10 times faster then the replacement buttons would. In teh end I replaced all of them.

try using a toothpick and model paint.
Time consuming but you can make it look nice. the tip can be made smaller by using and exacto knife

Thanks for the input guys. I may try the exacto+toothpick and model paint option to see how long it lasts before I replace them.
