Default dropping gears

Got a 2000 si. 5 spd. might be a dumb question but jsut curious would it be bad to drop from 5th to 3rd? thanks

nope. depends how fast your going. if ur going around 50 u can dump it to third no prob. just make sure u step on the gas quickly and match rev

hmm im not sure..2000 Si transmissions are pretty close gear ratio but i think if u down it to 3rd going 70 u should be at about 6500 rpm maybe. should be perfect

just do the math. If your @ 2000 RPM @ 10MPH then 20MPH would be 4k RPM and so on.

as long as ur not going so fast that when u downshift and it redline. u can drop it to any gear but 1st and reverse dont even try unless u wanna mess up ur transmission. it all depend on how fast ur going. if u going 50 on 5th then brake to go 30 then u can downshift to 3rd with no problem maybe a little jerk if u dont rev match. if u go 100 on 5th then drop to 3rd then i would be concern....
