Cruise Control Removal
yea it sucks to remove... i miss it already...going to the drag race i would turn on cruise control and drive at 65mph with out having to have my foot on the gas pedal ..
You will need to cap a vacuum.
The cruise control itself is held bij 2 x 10mm bolts.
There are two thick breather lines from the cruise control module:
1 - routed vertically down: breather
2 - routed to the fender: connects to a vacuum tank
These can all be pulled out and no need to cap anything.
The cable is connected to the gas pedal.
There is a mechanism on the gas pedal that keeps the pedal depressed once CC is engaged.
Take the CC cable off this mechanism: it should be right beside the throttle cable.
Loosen 10mm bolt to lift fusebox under hood.
There should be a grommet for the CC cable: 1/4 turn to take it off.
Remove cable assemble fusebox and youre done

its not hard at all, its just that your position under the steering wheel will be awkward and theres no light to see what youre doing.
The principle is the same as the throttle cable @ the throttle body..............depress gas pedal fully and guide cable off the reel vor like a half turn.
I forgot if it was upwards or downwards though.....Flashlight FTW!

Actually, all of the above were true for me.
My prelude isnt a Distance car, its getting boosted at above average psi. This is my Around town car, And theres no need for cruise control. Always stopping, or slowing defeats the purpose of CC.
Thanks, That actually help alot mervin
But isnt there a electrical cruise control unit under the Dash ( Driver side )

Mervin's directions sound like they are for RHD in case you didn't notice. (or maybe 5th gen?)
There might be something under the dash, but you won't need to remove it. Unless you're that concerned about weight.
And you do need to cap the lines going to the IM.

I'd Prefer to remove everything, That being the point of spending the time doing it, Ludes already weigh a ton, no need to keep anything unnecessary.
5SpdH22 is right - my instructions are for a 4th gen RHD Lude.
Hope there isnt anything very different or that i put you on the wrong track

that little thing hanging on the cable connected to the pedal looks like a little baton shape metal piece. you sure its just a twist n pull out? ive tried it for awhile and just gave up. help meeeee!!!
Theres a vac line that needs to be capped. A couple 10mm bolts hold the CC unit in place in the engine bay. The vacuum tank gets taken out of the fender well. As far as the throttle cable goes, its a little awkward to get under the steering wheel/dash, but once you do, push the gas pedal in a little, and the CC cable should stick out a little. When it does try to pull on it a little, and you should see where it hooks onto the gas pedal. Twist it out of the way and it should come out. After thats done there should be a grommet holding it in place on the firewall, that should just come out after you turn it. Also the FAQ has this information, and my Prelude is a 4th gen with no intentions of being a daily driver or going on long cruises, so I took it out for less weight and more room to move in the bay. Hope this helps someone.
I know, I'm bumping an old thread. But I need some help. Here is my thread on my 5th gen CC delete: https://honda-tech.com/forums/honda-prelude-4/cruise-control-delete-5th-gen-pics-question-3064457/
But here are some pics and a bit from that thread that I need some help on:

I wonder what this thing is. It seems to be part of the brake system somehow maybe. Since it looks connected to a brake line. Maybe it was so the brake system could interface with the cruise control, etc. Wonder if it's needed anymore? Since it's not actually hooked up to anything now.

I capped off that hose that went to the bottom down underneath the large canister. Hope that's OK lol.

Taped off the electrical connections and secured and tucked them away as best as I could.

This part here concerns me though. I can't seem to figure out WHERE it might have been connected before I started tearing stuff out. Unless it was just like this all the time, I don't know. It does seem to be hollow in the top and down into the tubing so I'm guessing it vented/went somewhere, unless it was just to atmosphere. I capped it off, but I really hope I didn't screw something up here????
