To Gut or not to Gut Interior ?
Well I,m debating gutting my interior. I have a jrsc gsr ek hatch its pretty fast and has a full interior , power steering , A/c , sub boxes and everything you can possibly carry around in it .I am debating gutting the interior of everything including the back seats , carpet , panels , sub boxes and amps . I think I may keep the p/s and A/c just for the comfort factor . Should I do it ????? am I gonna regret it ?????? The car is not my daily and I rarely carry more than one occupant which is even rare what do you guys think should I gut it ? Is it really gonna be worth ? Is the speed increase gonna be worth it ? I cant decide and hope some of you guys who have done it can give me some input if your glad you did it or if you wish you hadnt done it !

yea sub/and box and amps do add a nice amount of weight, but its not like gutting your car is permanent, some people really like it and some don't just choice of preference, why don't you just gut it and see if you like it and if you don't put it back its not that big of a deal. i personally like it without backseats, i like just my cage behind me.
Your right the sub box probably weighs 40 lbs itself . I love my tunes when I am not hell raising and my a/c when its 100 degrees out . I dont know sounds like I should just keep the full interior and remove the subs for the track ect....the interior is in good shape and as I looked at it tonight I thought man do I really wanna lose that ? I dont know I just dont think it is going to gain me much if hardly any speed. I have heard every 100 lbs equals approxx a tenth of a second in the 1/4 mile . If thats true I could pull my interior and my subs and only gain one or two tenths of a second and that just does not seem worth it to me .

The last time I painted my integra, I gutted it. I drove it home with a dash and one recaro, and knew the stuff had to go back in. For a daily driven car, it's just not worth it.
After tjat. I had all the sound deadening chipped out, 2 front seats, rear seats, carpet, and all interior panels .. and the sound of the open downpipe was still unreal. It rumbled your feet at idle, and got even worse as you got on it. I eventually put some carpet underlay under the carpet to help a bit and it was tolerable from there on out.
All in all, unless you're driving a race car, don't worry about it - you'll hate it soon enough.

if you have to ask, then you know the answer....I thought it was cool when I was 16, now i think its just stupid especially in a car that isnt even taken to the track. You would not believe how many rattles and squeaks you will hear without carpet and seats to quiet it down.....And you will gain nothing from it. If your that worried about weight then ditch the subs
Well seems unanimous I am not gonna gut it . I'm 38 well 39 in two weeks so yeah it would seem silly to gut it and lose of the comfort of having the back seat and all the other items I am fond of like the bangin *** subs lol ! I'll pull em if I got to the track .As far as salads well I am not overweight so thats not really gonna help any either I'll just keep my hatchy the way it is and enjoy it . Thanks for all the input guys !
