Hi I just purchased a '91 4 door civic lx d15 auto for $400. Pretty straight car overall, interior is brown, but almost immaculate. Bought it for a dd for now anyways. Sat for 2 years with a plugged cat and in dire need for a tune-up. Noticed the tranny fluid is dirty, isn't burnt, but shifts a bit funny so i'd like to change it and filter, What fluid do you guys recommend? what about lucas tranny fix recommend that? Read on mitchell at work it says honda atf is that what i should run? is it only available at stealership?

LOL, don't do that... Go to Honda and purchase Honda ATF if you want to do it the right way. Also, don't use any "thick" nasty "helper" oils. Unless you are trying to sell it, they are not worth the aftermath that could happen with higher mileage/older cars.

 

If it was manual.

 

Go to Honda and get fluid. I have run Synthetic 10-30 in a few of my manual transmissions too with NO issues.

sorry didnt see the auto part... atf for auto
