B16a (obo 0) into 1999 CTR RHD Questions
Ok, I have posted this before and all the answers i have gotten were great but not really what i had asked about.
FIrst of all i bought i 1999 ctr rhd civic. The motor set up was from a b18c5.But when i got the car it had no motor or trans. Just the engine wire harness So the wire harness is one piece and and has an adaptar at the ecu end. Which i believe is a OBDb to OBDa jumper or vice versa.
Now...I was given a perfectly good B16a OBDo motor with a cracked trans. THe OBDo ecu as well. THis set up came out of a 1991 hatch.
So here my questions:
1) Can I use my CTR harness that came with the car minus the obdb-obda jumper? If so is this just a plug n play deal. Or i have been told to find a 99-00 EX harness so i wont have to get other jumper.
2) The b16a trans is cable driven. And my 99 CTR is hydro. But the trans that came with the b16a was a great big hole in it. So i need to find other trans. What other trans will bolt up to this b16a.
3) There hassport motor mounts still in the car. Can i use a stock 5spd manual trans mount from a 99-00 civic?
Any info would help. I have done my reaserch but i get tons of different answers. Trying to narrow it done. So i can finish this and get it out on the road. Thanks in advance.

1) Yes you can use your harness that you have with the car, just make sure you buy a different ecu.. You will however need to buy a new distributor, injectors, and alternator.. I would get a chipped p28 and and get the obd2 to obd1 conversion harness. It would really be better considering that you have the OBD0 going in your car and that way you can tune it in and everything.
2) You can get a 94-^ LS, GSR, GS, 94-97 Del Sol VTEC, or 99-00 Si tranny.
3) Do you mean 99-00 Si tranny mount?? If so then yes you can..
You could use injectors from a 99-00 Si and it would be good to go with ur engine harness.
You are going to need to use the engine harness with it because it is for the RHD, you can't use a USDM engine harness in the car because they plug in on different sides of the car......

Thand for clarifying that for me but just couple of more questions?
1) Now u say i need injectors, distrib, and alt? What cars do i need to get these parts from? 99-00 civic si's?
2) And if i dont get a chipped p28 ecu .. Can i still use the stock obd0 ecu that was given to me with the motor?
Thanks again..

1) can i wire the stock obdo alt into the 99 ctr harness? Two of the four wire colors match up. But the other two do not?
2) can i wire the stock obdo injectors into the 99 ctr engine bay harness as well?
I have notice after plugging my ctr engine bay harness onto the motor that the vtec sol plug is a different connector. But the wire color matches. (light green with yellow stripe) Can i just cut off the connector and soldier together?
Also notice on my ctr harness that there is not four matching plugs that would plug into the injectors themselves? any ideas why this would be?
It doesnt sound like the p2t ecu is the way for me. I dont want the ecu looking for sensors. So if i dont go the the route of p2t. I should just go and find a 99-00 si stock ecu?

2) no you cant use the obd0 injectors, they require a resistor box, unless you want to wire a resistor box in.. just get some obd2 injectors, from sohc or dohc, dont matter...
Yes the plugs are different because you have an obd0 solenoid.. you can solder it if you want..
There isnt 4 matching injector plugs because maybe they got cut off? check for loose wires, the colors are Yellow/Black in each injector and a different color for the second wire...
A p2t ecu is an si ecu... your best route is to get an obd1 jumper and tune it!

i tryed an obd0 in to an obd2 car swap that was a nightmare for me. the ECU they sent me was the wrong one or it was bad. so i ended up converting it to obd2 that was expensive but atleast i can have detailed code readouts now.
Here is the pic of the engine bay harness that came with my car. There was a b18c5 motor and trans that was in it before. And was taken wen i bought it. So, Im not really sure if this harness is a ctr harness or an itr harness. Is there a way to find out? I cant seem to find the injector plugs on the harness and they arent cut out? Im pretty familar with a engine bay harness. I just have never done a obdo motor into a obd2 chasis yet. First time. So..
Please remeber its a CTR chasis. So if i get an 99-00 ex engine bay harness it will be going into the car on the wrong end?

Use the wiring harness you already have, no need to change it. Next, don't waste your time with a 1st gen B16, why the hell would you put a way older, less powerful engine inn a genuine CTR? DONT!!
Find a deal on a newer gen b series, i'd go for a B18C if i were you. Look for a deal, there is always a deal!

The b16a is what "god" gave me to work with. Hahahhaahahaha.. So i need to live with it for now. Any idea"Deetz" on how to make it work?
As i said, i wouldn't do it, but it's your car and your choice!
As far as using it, so easy man. your harness plugs into all the same sensors with the exception of the coolant temp sensor which is on the back of the block instead of the thermostate housing. You need an obdII dizzy and ecu, and the newer plug style altenator, and that should do.
Why waste your time with a b16, i hate the one in my 20000 em1. Can wait to toss it in favor of a bigger motor with more torque. I had a 96 civic hatch with a B20Z, it was a way more powerful engine.

oh btw....other reasons the 1st gen b16 engine sucks
- weakest vtec cams ever made, they are very mild
- smaller throttle body, only 58mm
- intake manifold has all kinds of old school emissions crap on it
- stupid single wire o2 senors, 2 of them in the manifold, it's a goofy setup
the only thing the 1st gen has good going for it, is that it has the best quality head casting out of all generations of pr3 head. It's the strongest and best quality.

Well my problem is that i cant seem to find the fuel injector plugs or wires on the engine bay harness. I know what they are etc..but they dont seem to b there. No wires are cut. And what about the injectors? Dont i need to replace that? Can i wire in the obd o alt with my engine bay harness?
if the harness is messed up, go to any jdm engine supplier. They have so many useless right hand drive harnesses it's not even funny. Pick a whole obdII harness cheap!!!
had to chase the injector wires all the way back into the harness. they were cut and tapped back up for some reason. so now..i found them.
