Need help, Any ideas?
I have a 1995 2.2L SOHC Honda Accord LX. Id like to know if i can put a Turbo on the stock engine i have, and without comprimising A/c and P/s. I'd also like to know of some parts that i can buy for relatively cheap that can up my HP/TQ a bit. such as CAI, stuff like that. Any help would be grately appreciated
You can, but it would probably kill your engine pretty quick. Ive heard some of the best mods are intake, header, and cat back exhaust. Some cheap maintance and cleaning of some parts can really help performance too.
Sorry, but wrong bud. These engines, with a fairly good tune have been known to hold over 15 lbs of boost with a completely stock internals.
If you are going to turbo it, then no point in getting a cold air or headers if that is happening soon, cause the turbo components will replace those.
But if it will be a while, then cold air, headers, exhaust is always a good start.
What kind of shape is your car in now? How are the brakes & suspension? These sorts of things should be your first priority.
If your looking to go boost then don't waste your money on anything that has to do with a N/A setup. For example, intake, headers or exhaust. You would be better off to spend your money piecing together all of your turbo parts. Also make sure to save up the money to have it tuned as soon as the build is finished. It may take some time to get allof the parts together but it's better to do it right the first time.
FYI just a few things to keep in mind when building an engine,
Fast(hp) & Cheap = Unreliable
Reliable + Cheap = Slow (Usually No performance gains)
Fast(hp) + Reliable = Expensive

Im not building an engine. im adding to my engine. And if i do buy turbo im buying a complete kit, its not gunna be a bunch of searchin for turbo parts...And my Brakes and suspension are good as they are. And what about A/C and P/S. can i keep those and still instal turbo? ive heard of some people not having enough room.
Sorry, when I said build an engine. I meant adding any sort of parts/power to an engine. If you buy a cheap kit you'll get what you pay for.
As for keeping A/C and P/S you will have to see what the manufacturer of your turbo kit says. It will depend on what type of exhaust manifold they are using and how they have everything setup. If your not sure what kit your going to buy. No one will be able to tell you if it will fit with A/C & P/S or not. I can tell you that there are guys around that do have a turbo and both A/C & P/S in there Accords.
Once you start looking at other peoples turbo builds you may think twice about buying a kit. I've seen builds pieced together that were of better quality and cheaper than some of the kits. I'll let the boost gurus chime in for that conversation though.

In the US there is the VTEC F22B1 and the Non VTEC F22B2. If yours has VTEC across the valve cover, than it's the B1.
If you want to know for sure there is an engine code stamped on the block. It's just above the front engine mount. You will see it if you look down between the exhaust manifold and the upper rad hose.

The engine code is the bottom yellow highlight.
Europ & Japan have a few different models
F22B - DOHC Non VTEC
H22A - DOHC VTEC
F20B - DOHC VTEC

oh ok thanks man, yah its F22B2 then. Not Vtec. Thanks for all your help. my first task is taking out the sterio to try and hook up my amp and box. so ill be startin that tomorow. Then its just savin up, maybe do a little vinyl paint on the inside dash. But then its savin up for the Turbo i want. I found one for $3695, its Turbonetics. I just dont know if it will Fit the F22B2

Gen5alive.com is a good place to lay down a members ride thread if you haven't been there already. Good bunch of guys & gals over there as well. What is the part number for the Turbonetics kit you are looking at?
hmmm.... even if you boost you'll have to either run a smaller turbo..or fewer psi. My buddy recently did an h22 swap in his 93'. Easy build...one week. Something to consider.
It says it for a 94-97 2dr Accord F22B1/2. The funny thing is there is no difference between the 4cyl 2 & 4 dr Accords when it comes to the engine bay.
I would try and get some more information about the kit before you buy it. I noticed that there seem to be a few different versions of this kit for sale when I googled that part number.
Some retailers are selling the kit complete with fuel and timing management along with injectors. ($3600) Some other retailers are not. ($2500) You should make sure that if your particular kit doesn't come with any of this stuff that you save some money for injectors, an engine management system (chipped ECU or standalone-AEM EMS) and a tune. Actually no matter what you do. A fully tunable EMS is much better than some fuel and timing hack that may come with the kit. Tunable ECU is well worth the $150-$200 (+tuning $$$)
I also noticed that they are kind of scarce on the deets about what exactly it is that comes in the kits. Take the following for example;
- Fuel / Timing Management System (It doesn't say exactly what they are selling you???)
- Additional Fuel Injectors (Doesn't state what size injectors?)
I have read that these kits are basically set up for 8psi of boost and should get you into the 210hp range. 8psi is below the stock boost threshold of the F22. I've read a build threads of guys running 12-15psi daily on stock bottom end F22s. It all depends on teh condition of your block.
