running d16y8 obd1 converted with jhpusa jumpers to a p28. it laggs randomly on random gears. it would mostly happen on 2,3,4th gear. it would run like normal then you feel this loss in power for about 4-5 seconds depending and the car feels like its struggling to speed up and you can feel it when it gets out of the "lagg"...when it happens i try adding bit more gas the rpm rises the same but the speedometer rises a bit slower then usual when "lagging" happens. what can it be? i was thinking it might be the intake manifold i noticed that the y8 one is pretty big and bulky and the one i have is smaller it says like p32 on top of the manifold looked up p32 but didnt come up with anything adn dont know what motor it came from, came with the d16y8....

 

Had the same problem in my last hatch turned out to be the ecu

 

so shuold i change out the ecu? its a chipped phearable one i had that because my wire harness was missing a o2 sensor and i didnt know anyone that could locate it even took it to a shop and a friend said get the jumper harness and convert to obd1 with a p28 tried a vigin p28 and it would idle super low to the point where the car would die out tried adjusting the tb but didnt work so i order a chipped p28 from phearable had them chip to idle at 900 and vtec to kick 4800 no redline and removed tps sensor i think and thats all.....

i had a problem like this with my eg like a month ago first i put a new distributor it help but didnt take away the problem completely then i fixed the timeing on the pully and the problem went away dont know if it will help you but u can try it

 

Start with the fundamentals. Any CEL? What condition are the plugs, wires, cap, and rotor? Is the ignition timing adjusted to spec?

 

no cels brand new ngk irdium spark plugs brand new ngk spark plug wires brand new oem honda rotor and cap.

 

maybe the timing

 

you dont have any cel's because there just isnt anything throwing a cel or because you guys disabled the ecu from drowing any cel's when programed?

you should just reprogram a y8 stock basemap to the chip then work from there.
