You can get a jdm h23 vtec if you look hard enough. the h23 swap is going to cost a little more then the h22 since the h23 is harder to find

the only difference wit h22 block the type S the 11:1 piston, h22a4 10:6:1 piston wit a 90mm stroke crankshaft and the h23 block 9:8:1 piston wit a 95mm stroke crankshaft..

H22a vtec- 220hp 163 lbs ft tq.
H22a1 vtec- 190 hp 158 lbs ft tq.
H23a- 160 hp and 156 lbs/ft tq.

This is wat i did to my h22 vtec i took the head & put it on h23 block
H22a 87mm bore 11:1 piston and place them on to the h23 rods
and since the h23 stroke is high 95mm and the rods are a lil bit taller
it bump my compression ratio up so it somewhere around 12:6 or 12:4
and the car halls ***..

you can also do it this way and the car runs harder used the h23 95mm stroke crankshaft and rods wit the h22 pistons 11:1 or the 10:6 AND PUT IT IN THE H22 BLOCK & THE VTEC HEAD COMPRESSION WILL BE HIGHER THEN 12:6 NEAR TO 13:

^^ I believe JDM H22A's are only rated @ 200 at the crank. Its the Euro R(H22A7) & Type S(See Hmotorsonline) that has 220 at the crank.
