First time down!
So there I was riding my new KLX250SF, thinking I am king **** ya know? Going my short 4 miles to work. Just another Friday minding my own business, van in front going a little bit slow no problem. Approached a near 180 degree turn at about 15mph, easy turn I have taken hundreds of times before. I guess this time it was going to be different because next thing I know I was sliding to home base like a batter to the side of the road. Came to a stop thinking my bike was going to be rashed to hell, turns out it did not have a scratch on it but I did however.
Other then a scrapped knee that is looking like an orange that bleeds I am fine. Not really sure why I went down, just rained and there were not a lot of washed out rocks on the road. My uniform is done for which kind of sucks since it was my best one. A formation of about 100 or so trainees got to see me slide across the road. The only thing I could do is laugh because I bet it looked pretty funny from where they were standing.

Classic low side... In more ways than one.
A high percentage of downs happen within a small radius of your home, where you feel most comfortable. Certainly most downs happen in situations that a rider knows all to well.
glad you're okay... nothing to be embarrassed about.

It happens to the best of us...I once suffered a lowside on this turn near my house that I used to take at a considerate deal of speed. Well, one day it seemed like a truck passed there and left a trail of a oily substance on the surface of the turn, invisible to a rider.
One moment I was taking the turn, and then, after the apex I began opening the throttle, and just felt the bike sliding from under me and me rolling around in what seemed like baby oil lol
What was funny afterward, was trying to lift up my bike...I kept sliding around the oil LOL.
Did you check the road surface to see if there was anything on it? If the bike isn't damaged and you are fine, then just enjoy! I like to think of a lowside as the world's best rollercoaster/thrill ride...as long as you don't bin the bike or hurt yourself. It felt fun sliding around

Oh, and I call the scratches "battle scars". You, being in the army and such surely could understand why

Get some painkillers tonight...might help when you get up. I'm not talking about the rash, but your entire body and muscles will feel kinda sore when you wake up.
After taking minor spills riding, I've always woken up the next morning with my entire body aching.
