Default Security Question

For those that got the LX models or any thing and decided to not op for the alarm.
How do you keep your car safe from theifs?
Aftermarket alarms?
Kill switches?
How would a main relay kill switch work on a newer car like the civic?
If i were to buy a Viper 5901. How would that work on that car?

Any information would help.

Thanks..

I don't have an 06+ but if I can recall, the newer civics use the immobilizer ignition which makes it difficult for a thief to drive your car away. There is nothing much you can do when it comes to getting your car taken with a tow truck/flat bed. But when its someone breaking in and trying to drive it away, I prefer clutch/brake locks, kill switch(es) hidden in a secretive location, and 2-way pager alarm with interior sirens as well.

Isn't there some sort of write up on theft prevention here on HT?

I have an aftermarket alarm in my SI. It is a Viper system with remote start. Not the best, but better then the factory alarm. The best security is a garage.

Haha. Insurance? Are you kidding me. I'm talking about real security of your personal belongings, of those thousands of dollars on amps, subs, radios and anything else in your car someone might want.
Which insurance won't pay you **** for.
For the fact that your car won't actually get stolen and end up miles and miles away stripped. You have to be for the impound, the towing, and repair damages and have to deal with all the other hassle.

An alarm with bunch of accessories and kill switches and anything else you can think of seems to be the best choice.

Which viper alarm do you have? Any problems with and the stock alarm?

I don't meant to play devil's advocate but I am a little bit confused, if your trying to protect your stereo modifications in the car, why do you want a kill-switch?

Also, insurance does cover it if you let them examine your car and insure it as a modified car. So thats a guaranteed option if your interested.

As for car alarms, there are tons out there that are sensitive to the car moving a few inches vertically so if you are very nervous i'd recommend researching something like that. They will go off in a thunderstorm if its powerful enough.

Also, it was reported here a few days ago that the stock alarm is only sensitive to someone trying to open your door, it does not cover window breakages. So if you're trying to protect stereo equipment, not a great idea.
