Assembly Lube Question
I have a quick question, I rebuild my engine a month ago. And everything like the bearings, rod cap, is properly lube up. But my question is how long does Assembly lube will last if I was to store the engine for another month. Will the lube melt away or will no longer be good? Is there a open window period as in when I have to get the engine started?
no, if you used the proper assembly lube it will be fine, but always follow manufacturer specs, so if the lube company says it has to be done by a certain time then do it lol... but in general theres no time frame
Assembly lube is there to lubricate the parts before the oil starts to work. Its thick enough not to run off. Just be sure the read the label of the one you used.
One good thing to do before running the engine, is before you do it, take the spark plugs out and just crank the motor over. I will do it with the oil fill cap off, until you can see oil flowing through the engine. Then throw the plugs back in and fire her up!
