OK i have a 99 ls in my ef. Last week i missed 3rd and over revved it bad, and it started to tick really bad and loud. So the next day i was going to do a valve adjustment, and i take off the valve and see that i am missing 3 locknuts. I found all of them put them back on and did my valve adjustment. And this was my first time doing a valve adjustment. And it is still ticking way better then before. Do i just need to do my valve adjustment again, or do i have a bent valve, or is something else is wrong. Wrong timing, etc here is a video i took sorry that u cant see anything it was dark outside, just listen.

I just did an oil change to find the locknuts. I took off the oil pan got a new gasket and put new oil in it. The old oil is clean no metal shavings. Sound like a tick when i rev it but a knock when at idle.
/\/\/\ thats a good idea but it almost sounds too fast to be a rod knock...before the block warms up feel the block on each cylinder or use a stethiscope(i think thats what theyre called) on the block to see if u can feel/hear a rod hitting the block its def one or the other tho lol this prolly doesnt help but oh well good luck

i will try that. But if i had a bent rod my car would be running horrible and not accelerating right. I drove it today and it was driving perfect.
not neccessarily i had a beater 89 camry that started knocking and still ran perfect till it left parts of the block all over the road the next day lol but its worth checking it sounds to me more like a tick IN THE VIDEO in person it might sound 10x worse tho...i hope its not a rod tho

I think it is a bent valve. If my valves need adjusted then they wouldn't start ticking right away they would start ticking when the motor is warmed up. I needed my valves adjusted like 2 months ago and it only ticked when the engine was warmed up. And after my friend did the adjust ment no more ticking. Now when i start it, it starts to tick or knock right away.

O wow i have been driving my car around to do some errands. I have been driving it normal, it is driving how it useto just ticking sounds like i need a valve lash. I am going to do an adjustment 2marrow let my car cool down for like 24 hours.
EDIT: What do u mean it would mess up my head? If i have a bent valve(s) i was going to upgrade everything like valves, springs retainers.

Think about it... When you are driving with a bent valve depending on where it is bent you will mess up the valve guide. Not only that but you will, because of the bend, ruin your valve seat. Valve seats can only be ground a certain amount before you have to have a new one installed. If the valve is hammering away at the seat at an angle then it will dig a groove. Google aluminum vs. steel. I do not know if they even make replacement valve seats for Honda heads, and there fore if they do not then your head will be ruined.
you might have left the valve lash a little loose on your first try. but I would still do a compression and leakdown test like suggested earlier
