well im not a pro at this but i do it right lol..

first off i would fill two buckets up with soap and water, one for paint and one for wheels tires etc..Next i would rinse car off completely, start by spraying some kind of tire cleaner on ur tires and let them soak, Alot for u thick laying tire shine people, begin washing one side of ur car/truck with a microfiber mit or towel, rinse thoroughly. same for other side, next i would spray tire cleaner once more and wipe with water till a white haze look(thats some clean tires!) dry entire vehicle, I purfer shammy! some people like to clean windows after u use spray waxes i do them befor, less mess. start to clay bar to remove any dirt that didnt come off during ur wash, fallowd by a spray wax to give it a gloss shine dry tires once more then hit them bad boys up with some non slinging tire shine!

Have fun how i made a lil scents!

the 2 bucket idea is pretty good as well as for cleaning the windows before the waxing...

well if im just washing and waxing its not that long of a process.

Spray either Meguiars APC or Westleys bleach white on the wheels, tires and fender wells and let soak for a min or two than scrub
Use two buckets, one for soap and one for rinse with dish soap(only use dish soap if your waxing)
was sections of the car at a time with a mit, rinse yadda yadda
Dry with a synthetic shammy
Clay bar every 6 months, wax every 2-3 with whatever i feel like using.

Now if im buffing/polishing thats a whole different ball game lol

I will either use NRWS or traditional soap and bucket with a sheepskin. Dry with Monterey or Pacific Waffle Weave Drying towel. If using NRWS, I will dry, and then apply a spray wax atop a base coat of Four Star UPP. If using traditional soap, I will rinse with sheeting method, apply optimum Spray Wax, then dry with above mentioned WW.

Invest in quality materials. Honestly, they'll make or break your cars finish. You can detail all you want but if your materials touching the surface are poor it will just scratch or swirl the finish.

I use the two bucket method. You'll really want to invest in a grit guard though. I still havn't been able to find one for a not ridiculous price where I live. You'll be suprised how much dirt is in the rinse bucket and think to yourself how you ever only used one bucket.

Waffle weave MF is freaken awesome for drying... I swear I'll never use anything else. Absorbs water like nothing and leaves the surface clean )

Every spring I do a full detail. Clay, cut, polish, glaze & wax.
I wax my car every 2nd or 3rd wash...sounds ridiculous I know. But we only get so many summer months where I live. I just want to make the most out of it lol

As long it's only dusty and not dirty.

Start with -
Wheels/Tires/Fender Liners - Megs. APC 4:1 in a Foaming Bottle. Aggistate with various brushes.
Body - ONR & Dry w/Microfiber
Body/Windows/Wheels - Last Spray Detailer 1:1 spray and wipe off with MF. (No I don't use the same MF Towel for the wheels) LTD works better for the windows than any window cleaner I have used. Just use an old Speed Detailer bottle, the sprayer gives a lot fine mist which helps evenly dispurse the product.
Tires - Poorboys Bold N Bright
Door Jambs/Under Hood/Gas fill area - LTD
Engine Bay - LTD (Megs HD 4:1 if needed)
Interior Quick Vaccum and interior detail spray (whatever the megs is called)
LTD inside of windows.
WAX of the choice of the day if I have the time.
