Bolt in cage, Do they work?
I'm starting to prep my car for the track and it's time for a cage. Do the Autopower bolt in cages work? Are they safe? What should a custom cage cost? Car is a 92 civic hatchback.
Thanks
Thanks
auto power bolt-ins are safe. if you have someone build you a custom cage its gonna run a bit higher. if you wanted a weldin cage you could always just buy the bolt-in cage and weld it. Thats what i did and it works fine. bolt-in will be just as safe. seen a buddie locally roll his hatch and the bolt-in autopower kept the roof from caving in on him. so people say boltin isnt safe. I guess thats way some race classes have very strict rules on welded cages.
really depends on what your going to be doing with the car? just street, and maybe weekend track car? if so id go the bolt-in route.

go bolt in and then weld the seams. will be the same if not STRONGER than a weld in. also a custom job can be better yes, but if the welder isn't as good as he says his welds might not stick
i don't think that it gets pointed out enough, but you should just call the manufacturer and ask them your questions. feel out the situation and make a decision from there. also call a local fab shop and see what they have to offer. don't just "ask honda-tech" cause pretty much everything you hear here is just opinion, and to be honest most people here have only tried one...maybe two of the same products from different brands.
