Default tires

Hey, i'm looking at getting new tires for my Integra. I'm looking at getting 4 new tires, size 205/45/16 (if possible, cuz thats what my car is set up for; lowered wise). I want a tire that has great traction, as i'd like to look into going autocrossing/circuit on the track. So I was wondering if there are people in here that drive their car daily/regularly, as well as on a track and what tires you use or what you find don't work well enough to consider....

What year/model Integra are you talking about? You need to be specific when referencing tire sizes.

well I was mainly just wondering about a tire thats good quality for autocrossing but is meant for street as well...

But I have a 96 integra gsr. Like I said 205/45/16 I want to do autocrossing/track but obviously be a mainly street tire.

205/45-16 and 215/45-16 are both valid options.

In no particular order:
Kumho XS
Toyo Proxes R1R
Dunlop Direzza Sport Z1 Star Spec
Bridgestone Potenza RE-11
Falken RT-615 Azenis

All valid choices for double duty daily driver / auto-x car. Though, the Azenis are a bit outdated would probably end up with the shortest wear time.

Trying to chose between the Z1 Star Spec and the XS for my 2000 GSR, but Dunlop doesn't make a 16" size for us Integra owners (and I own 8 16x7 wheels ), so its 15s or 17s.

Others will probably chime in with their preference between those tires I listed.

There are also other less sticky but longer lasting tires that could also be used as for both duties, I just listed (what I have read are) the stickiest.

alright for those interested as well, I talked to a few tire places and friends that sell tires and a few other fourms. They obviously have looked around for themselves. So I decided to go ahead after some debate and i'm gonna try the BF Goodrich G-Force KDWs. I was told for the price they are an amazing tire (and checked reviews and most ppl agreed) and they should apparently be good enough to do some tracking. I MAY actually be going tonight so i'll get a chance to quickly check them out, see how it goes... maybe...

You'll want nsxtasy to comment on that before you purchase.

You forgot the Yokohama Advan Neova AD08, and Hankook's new tire will probably go on that list too.

Since his car is lowered, it makes sense for him to get 205/45-16 rather than 215/45-16, for the extra clearance.

The only two such tires available in 205/45-16 are the Bridgestone RE-11 and Toyo R1R.

BAD choice.

The KDW is nowhere near as sticky as the R1R and RE-11, so it's really not very good for autocross. It's not a bad tire if you want a longer-lasting tire and you're willing to give up some traction in exchange, but there are other, better (i.e. less expensive) choices if that's what you're looking for. For example, the Yokohama S.drive will give you the same performance as the KDW for about half the price. Don't throw your money away on the KDW.

BFGoodrich makes a very sticky tire similar to those other sticky tires, called the KD, but it's not as sticky as the R1R and RE-11, and it's not any less expensive, either.

No, they are NOT! They are significantly overpriced for the performance they give.

Again, if you want a really sticky tire to give you great performance for autocross, get the R1R or RE-11. If you're willing to give up some performance for longer treadlife, the S.drive will give you the same performance as the KDW for a lot less money.

So don't waste your money on the KDW.

well the whole thing about autocrossing, is i'll be driving the car more on a regular basis than actually autocrossing or tracking. Its somewhat a daily driver (when its working properly I drive it). I have never done anything like autocrossing or tracking yet, I just plan to try it out and see how I like it, so I don't want a tire made more for autocross and it **** in rain, or just regular day driving. (which is why he figured i'd be better off with these tires).

as for you saying that the Yokohama S.Drive is half the price, he quoted me it as the EXACT same price, and told me, he HIMSELF would recommend this tire, and a guy that works for him has them on his car and he very much praised and enjoys the tire as well (chatted with him a bit about them before I left the store).

I understand that some of those tires are better for autocrossing, but I need the tire more for daily driving than for grip in autocross.. (at least till I possibly get into it, as I said I haven't tried it yet so I gotta see how it goes)

Then you're right, you're better off with a longer-lasting tire, rather than one of the supersticky tires listed above.

That's really unusual. The Tire Rack sells the S.drive in 205/45-16 for $89/tire, and the KDW for $133/tire. (I know, not double - sorry - but 50 percent more.) If you can get the KDW for $89/tire, go for it!
