Wow... I insured the lotus today..
Finally got a present in the mail from ICBC... a new regestration number for the lotus.. I ran out and insured it while the ink was still wet before they change their
minds...
I'm going to finish up some minor things ( like WS and exhaust ) and be at the british car show at Hopugan park in Abbotsford on Sept 08...
I'll bring the car out to the next ITR meet ( and park right smack dab in the middle of all of you..hahahaha..)
Sorry this is so off topic, but this is quite a milestone for the little beast...

POST PICS MAN!!!
What I'd give to ride in or drive that Serious Machine. Of course my *** will ache after more than a few miles in that hard aluminum shell.
Good luck with it.

Nope ... not aluminum.. fiberglass... I drove the last one we had to San Fransisco
from BC and it was really comfortable.. A bit busy on the highway to make long trips a habit.. but bloody hard to catch going through the mountains around Grants Pass.. If you get a chance to come out to the park ( spelled Hougan Park really )
there should be some neat cars.. )
I am finally going to take some proper photos of the WHOLE car this time and post some for you guys.. The last time I drove one of these in Vancouver I had quite a few guys take a run at me ( literally ) cause the car was sooo small and was painted dark silver and people just didn't see it when changing lanes, turning etc..
Oh for those who don't know it's a 65 Elan.. with a tall block 1.7 and Alfa 5 speed
should put out about 130 to 140 crank hp..( stock is 95 hp ).. and the car should weigh in at a pretty heavy 1600 lbs ( the body is quiter thick by Lotus standards, I wanted to avoid the nasty cracking that comes from spirited driving..)
There's NO WAY anybody is going to miss this one.. Right Ddub!!!

That reminds me of the old story about Colin A. B. Chapman. One of his engineers told him, "Yes, well with this tenth version of the chassis we've added enough structural support to make it roadworthy."
To which he replied, "Very well. We'll go with the ninth version."
No no no.. The real story is on the Lotus 12 ( like a maseratti bird cage ) he got the frame/cage assy from the welder and put the suspension and drive train in it..
Then he started removing pairs of tubes from around the load bearing areas of the frame.. he took quite a few out and shortly the last couple of tubes he removed caused the frame to collapse.. So he supported the frame to return it to it's correct dimension and re-welded those last two tubes back in and said " done ".. Hahahah!
Not likely a true story in any case... Chapman understood that the car had to last to be competitive...Fast is no good if the car falls apart..
