k20 in our car is legal in california????

just got pull over yesterday, and i have to go to state ref.
i have k20 and turbo. now im parting out the turbo to go ref.
just wondering that k20 in an em2 is legal in california???

um technically it is because it is in the same weight division as civic but its illegal until you get it bar'ed
