if car was stolen what kind of title is it? didnt report to insurance..
if my car was stolen and i didnt report it to insurance because i dont have insurance is the title still clean or theft recovery? i did however report it stolen to the police.
how can i find out for free? otherwise does anyone know if the title is still clean or considered theft recovery/salvage? again never reported to insurance only to police.
it's still clean title, only if u had insurance and reported to them, then they'll send your paperwork to the dmv making it salvage title...had a car once, i got rear ended (totaled), insurance gave me $3k, and let me keep the car, i figure the car would be savlage title so i sold it, came across the new owner awhile later and he said it was still clean title...don't know how that happened.
My 00 Si was stolen and we bought it back and it retained a clean title. I ended up selling the car right after because it was all messed up (engine was practically destroyed from abuse) for only like $4300...saw it up on Craigslist a year or two later as a clean title. Then I found out what actually made the car a salvage title and I was kicking myself for letting it go so cheap.
It'll be a salvage title if the insurance company pays the total-loss claim on the car.
