^^ SUPER WRONG.....

there was a very good post on this subject a few weeks back but i couldnt find it again.

it went something like this,

EJ stands for SOHC 2 / 3 door
EH stands for SOHC 4 door
EK stands for 3/4 dr with DOHC VTEC
EM stands for DOHC 2 door
EN stands for DOHC 2 door natural gas

im not so sure on that answer either, EJ-EN is more the generation code i think e.g. when it was made ek is 1996-2000

and i think the number represents the model of that generation, for example my ek3 has the d15b sohc vtec and before i bought it, i looked at an EK2 with a 1300 (d13b?) both hatches are made in 1997 and look identical (until you open the bonnet)

your a moron shut up your tainting this forum with bad information! lol at yourself for speaking blindly

for starters 96-00 Civic hatchbacks are ALL EJ series in the usa. ( think they are all EJ6 as a matter of fact)

EK9 is ONLY 98-00 civic type r
EK4 is ONLY Civic Si-R ( not sure of year range)

now listen carefully to what EK means. EK designates all 96-00 Civic hatchback models and 4 door models equipped with a DOHC VTEC engine. the number after EK has no specific meaning other than a random number designation for that model. (in other words EK4 does not necessarily mean its a 4 door, although it is...)

ek9 is street slang for civic hatchbacks and "ek" is street slang for 96-00 civics....

ek4 is from 96-97 unless you convert yout 98-00 to sir with the sir bumpers
ek9 is type r from 96-00 but you see the ek9 from 98-00 more likely
