Default 93 CX idle and Ac Problems...

I have searched around for this, but havent found anything and if it is around im really sorry, but I need to get this fixed fairly quickly. I have been having some problems with my idle (idling at 1500 rpm) and then turning on the ac would drop the rpms to about 950 rpm. Well i found that part of the problem could be a dirty EACV so I removed it and cleaned it. After replacing it the car now wants to rev to 4000rpm.

The engine is a jdm d15b with a pm3-4 head (non vtec) so yes it was dual carbed, but its been made to run fuel injected. This is in a 93 CX hatch.

Forgot to mention its running the cx intake manifold.

Any ideas?

Is the CEL on?

If you have a FITV on the throttle body, then you should clean it as well. Otherwise, look for a disconnected vacuum hose or a leaky IM or throttle body gasket.

The A/C compressor clutch relay must be wired to the ECU for the engine to idle up when the A/C button is pushed. Is your system wired this way?

No the CEL is not on when it does this, but does come on when the ac is on and the car is moving. If the car doesnt move, the CEL doesnt come on.

I have tried to get the code for the CEL, but it doesnt give me one, the light just stays on steady, with no blinking.

Ill have to check and recheck to make sure there is no vacuum leak, but I was sure there wasnt one when i removed and cleaned the EACV.

When the CEL comes on, pull over and jump the service connector to pull the CEL code while leaving the engine running.

I will do that, but once I can get the RPMs to drop from the 4000 rpm at idle. I forgot to mention it was also surging partially right after replacing the EACV, but now it goes and stays at 4k.

This car is driving me insane...argh!

Have you cleaned the FITV and looked for a vacuum or intake air leak?

I think I may have found my problem. After going out just now, the car had a surging idle. But it didnt rev to 4000 like it did before. Searching for surging idle brought me to a site that told me "a surging idle could be as easily caused by having the wires from the EACV and the solenoid near it on the end of the intake reversed." So I looked, sure enough, they were reversed (although I only removed one wire set so it wasnt my fault for the mix up.) This actually fixed all my problems, no more high idle, it idles around 900, and when the ac comes on it remains at 900. Not only this, but after going for a drive the CEL light didnt come on again with the AC on.

LIFE IS GOOD!

BTW: thanks for you help, if HT had a reps system, id rep you every day for your help:D

Much thanks!
