What to do with my 98 Civic CX
I have a 98 Civic CX and I don't know what to do. I want to do some power adders so I decided to get an intake. But because of the vertical throttle body position I decided to get an intake manifold. That way if I got a motor swap I could reuse the intake. I wanted to get a D16Y8 intake manifold but I couldn't get one at a reasonable price but I found a D16Z6 manifold from a local source. After some research I am still not sure, So will it fit and will the wiring will work out? Any other ideas for mods that will work on my engine and if I get a swap? or Should I just focus on the handling? Also I was looking to spend only about $500 for now. Any help would be appreciated. Lastly, because I am anticipating a flaming I did search around and I couldn't find any solid answers so please help and don't hate on me. Thanks Again.
Modding a CX is absolutely retarded. Thats a GAS MILEAGE car.. why mod it?? Thats like trying to mod a geo metro.. it's made to get the best gas mileage possible
These CX's and HX's are getting harder and harder to find untouched and clean since everybody thinks their 119hp gas mileage car is a race car.
If you simply MUST mod a honda.. sell it and buy an ex.
And on a last note, modding the intake/exhaust/ecu on these cars will set of CEL. Which not only look annoying, but will prevent you from passing inspection.

in an EK model what makes the CX and the DX so much different from each other? considering that they both rock the same D16Y7 motor and trans, pretty much everything honda offered is optional for both cars? For the OP put a swap in it or turbo the motor if you want to mod it.
I still would like to do a little something to make it more fun and to hold me over for the swap. Any ideas? Should I focus on handling since those mods will not be affected by the swap? How about changing the rear drums to disks? Is it worth it? Like I said I just want the car to be better than it is to hlod me over and that includes handling. And...people do mod Geo Metros, there are performance Geo clubs. They do have Toyota engines and people slap in turbo MR2 engines.

I bought a very clean stock 97 cx hatchback with a/c. The first thing I did was work on the suspension. I bought me some skunk2 complete coilovers and dropped it a bit. Since your looking to spend about $500 then I would suggest looking for some used suspension parts like coilovers on honda-tech. When you have enough money you can focus on other little things. But do not spend that $500 on a loud fart can.

cai, a full HKS exhaust, header and you'll be on your way.
suspension work. forget the rear discs. Get some lightweight wheels, gripy tires, shocks, springs and rear sway and have fun with it. dont need power to have fun.
Any suggestions on sites or shops that I can get a good deal on some of that stuff? Password JDM seems like they have some sweat deals and my local connection could get me some coilovers cheap. I am not sure if they mean the adjustable springs or the full thing. He said for $100 each so they seem too cheap to be the complete thing and not just the spring. I can have fun without much power for sure. I live in Colorado and the mountain roads are epic. The only problem is that my stock 109 hp motor with 120,000 mi. at an elivation of 7,000ft probably makes around 99 hp if I am lucky. But even with 99 hp on those mountain roads those turns come up pritty quick and I think a little more breaking power would be comforting. .

if you're careful to search and wait for the right deal to come along, you can get a good Y8 for < $500.
on the other hand, $500 would be just about enough for a nice suspension setup. for mountain roads... i'd pick the suspension first and take care of the motor later. don't forget, great suspension is nothing without a good wheel and tire combo..
a very mild Y7 in a lightweight car can be plenty of fun. you won't be outrunning anyone... but you won't have much money tied up in it either..

For the engine I would hold out for a swap, y8,z6, or go b series for the brakes I would upgrade to a ex or si brake kit, the are bigger, I would do the whole car that way you can add sway bars and have a bit of fun in the corners
Like I mantioned before...do you guys have any preffered web sites or shops that will ship for cheap or anything like that where I could get a good deal? Also how could I as raidacaipo said " get some used suspension parts like coilovers on honda-tech" . I thought there were no WTB's allowed on honda-tech.

Which integra has compatable rear disks. Please say the 92, 89, or 94, because there is a junkyard by me where I can get all I need for the back breaks for less than $100. Also, I have been looking through the marketplace and all I have to say is, I thought Craigs List was hard to find stuff in but the maketplace...damn! That thing requires some serious free time and patience.
