the Ivac is the sensor that sits underneath the Throttle body right?
the long canister looking thing... i just got my H22 motor today and that sensor is broken on it.. so im trying to figure out what it is to go pick one up, what are the costs usually?

The Fast Idle Thermo Valve ( FITV ) is directly under and attached to the throttle body. Has 2 coolant line going into it. The "long canister looking thing" sounds to me like your EVAP canister.
OP .. your idle surge could be a vacuum leak. Most problamatic area for vacuum leaks is the intake manifold gasket between it and the cylinder head.

thanks man and no it doesnt fit. different set up. i would post up a pic of both but i forgot where i got it. i just cleaned it and it works perfect.
just gonna say, clean the screen and that usually fixes the problem but looks as if you got it fixed already. and yes, a 92 - 96 IAC valve will work on obd2 cars...I am running one now.
