F22A6 engine replacement assistance please
Hi,
I own a 1993 Honda Accord EX-R (Canadian) I broke the timing belt at 283,000 kms and had a rebuilt engine put in, I got that one to 420,000 kms (250,000 miles) and the motor started making "loose change in the clothes dryer" sounds. Got a used engine from a recycler and am about to swap out old for less old.
Any tips as to what to look for?, what to replace while out?, and such would be appreciated.
For instance, I am swapping the timing belts and water pump. I'd like to know how to decide whether my clutch is serviceable or should be replaced. I'll likely change the crank main seal, since it's accessible now.
Anything else?
Thanks to all of you in advance

doesnt sound like a good motor, could be many things causing that sound, but its not good i can tell you that and going to require alot of work to figure out/or replace.
If your keeping the motor, replace rear main seal and crankshaft seal for sure. You have to take tranny off and inspect the clutch, recut the pressure plate and slap back on since motor is out already.

I got that much. I have a junkyard motor that I'm swapping in and just want to make sure that I don't forget anything. There sure are a lot of connectors and such.
As far as mechanics go. I've had motors out before, although mainly American, and once in my Subaru (OBD1 engine)

I just bought my first honda and did this exact engine swap a week ago. One thing I wished I would of done was replace all those water hoses in the back of the engine cause there kinda a pain later. And now from the previous engine the cat is a little clogged. And like accord99power said those main seals are nice. Oh and when I got my car one of the pulley bolts for the water pump came loose in side the timing belt cover and destroyed everything on the previous owner, so I don't if it's supposed to have thread lock or something but just a thought.
