Default socal ppl: stay away from thomas acura!!!

1) i took in my car for a 30k maintenance, and they charged about 50 bucks more than most dealers did. sorry yoshi, i didn't wanna drive all the way down to torrance to get the maintenance done.

2) when i left, i realized that they didn't even put any antifreeze into my coolant thingy-mabobber so i had to go back

3) on the socal canyon run last saturday. my freakin spark plug cover fell off, and can anyone tell me what kind of metal piece i need to use to put the damn thing back on?? sorry i'm an idiot, but i'm trying. i just don't want to go back to the dumb *** dealer again.

THANKS!

sux wut happened at thomas

it's just 4 bolts that hold on the cap. I'd make sure the spark plugs are in there firmly before you put the cap back on

If your looking for a VERY reputable shop in OC, AutoWave is the place. They are Honda/Acura certified, and only use OEM (unless otherwise requested) parts. There number is 714-841-2433 Ask for Shane

why dont you guys buy the helms manual and work on it yourselves?? its really not that hard, then you dont have to deal with the dealerships anymore.... unless you cant tackle a really big problem.

You can take your acura to a honda dealer and probably get it done cheaper. 15k on a honda basically is a tire rotation, oil change, and check all moving items on and underneath the car. They also should spray silicone in the window tracks to keep the window sliding up and down smooth.
30k service. rotate tires, oil change, tranny fluid change, lubricate window tracks, service front and rear brakes, brake fluid change and valve adjustments.
With the new spark plugs now adays, that does not have to be replaced till 100,000 but a fresh set does not hurt at all.
a 15k should run about 50-60 dollars
30k should run about 250-350 depending on if parts are not needed. prices vary state to state.
And dont forget to use HONDA bond on the base of the cylinder head near the cam humps. this will make a tight seal from oil seeping through.

I do all of it on my own,if you complain to the service manager Im sure he'll give you some or all of your money back and someone will be going home suspended or fired.

In the rosemead area, Sierra Acura on Main street gets a from me, Except one person at the parts desk, hes a idiot and a a$$hole put together. I have gone there for a few warranty repairs, and they dont play stupid games, they tell you how it is, most of the time you'll like the outcome.

You can take your acura to a honda dealer ]
I have to comment on this. A few days ago, I called the Honda Dealer to see if they had any oil filters in stock for my car. So i call them, i ask for the parts dept. I tell the guy i need a oil filter for a 98 integra type r, then the guy says, sorry sir, this is a honda dealer, we do not carry any acura parts. they are totally differnt from honda parts, they are not made by the same company ... I was left speechless, so i just hung up on him while he was still talking

Sierra Acura gets two way from me. This was a couple years ago, I dropped my GSR off for an oil change and when I picked it up they gave me a huge list of things my car "needed."

For one, they told me I needed a Clutch master cylinder; when I told them that it had been changed recently at the Pasadena Acura dealer the mechanic backed off right away, saying oh, I guess it's not leaking they just overfilled the fluid. They told me I needed a new B-pipe ($160 +labor). I think it was a crack in the cat cover. They told me I needed new boots in the front axles b/c the ones I had were drying up and about to crack. The only thing that they described that I really needed was a rear trailing arm bushing. I bought new poly ones but I still haven't replaced them, and don't have any rear alignment problems. I haven't changed any of the things they said I "needed." B-pipe still hasn't cracked.

Another time I bought some washers for the oil pan drain bolt and he charged me 90 cents each. Some places give you those for free or charge about 30 cents. I just didn't want to bother going elsewhere. It wasn't much money to hassle about, but the principle of it. Haven't been there since. Or any other Acura dealer service dept. for that matter.

That's when you should have turn around and talk to the manager of that acura. The owner works at the Acura dealership I go to, so they always have good service there

$350 for 15K service, I can't imagine what they could be doing at 15K that would cost that much.

Pasadena Acura gets from me, they are all a bunch of theives there. I do not want to jump to any conclusions here, but my statements of them are based on facts. I took my car there to get my synchros replaced. I drove into the service station, and the people that wash the cars after it has been serviced, jumped up and came stood next to the car, i got out of the car, and before i knew it my car was being washed. I was like WTF. Who the **** told you you can drive my car and wash it?? Then after they serviced the car, i go to pick it up, i pop my hood, and my front strut bar isnt there. I talk to the service manager, hes like you have no proof that it was there when you brought it, and i can see it anywhere at our shop, so i cant help you.

Then the investigtor in me got one of my friends to go there and talk to the people that wash the cars. These guys are like 18-20 years old, and they all drove some kind of a import. My friend got the guy that was so quick to jump in my car and wash it to pop his hood, and what did he see, a ITR front strut bar. IM not jumping to a conclusion, but just be carefull.

BTW I let the manager know, and all he said is that you dont have any proof that the strut bar is yours.

I had a bad experience there back in 98 when i first bought my R. I went to the parts desk to order some championship white touch up paint. The parts person told me that they would not order it unless I purchased six of them as they would not be able to sell them since it was a low production vehicle I never went back

Your fault for asking for a part for your type-R.
All honda oil filters are the same. You should just ask for a filter.

Do I mention a part number anywhere in that sentance???? The reason I call to see if they have them in stock is because the local honda dealer is very poorly managed, and they dont have things in stock. So i always call before hand, to make sure they have oil filters before I drive there.

Did I???

Parts dept people are like children. You have to treat them as such.
Keep things simple and you'll get what you want.

I"ll repeat again for those in socal:

parts needs:
Scott Miles 'Parts Specialist' @ South Coast Acura in Costa Mesa
714-979-2500
or
800-96ACURA

service needs:
Jon Martin 'Service Manager' @ Southbay Acura (formerly Peyton Cramer Acura) in Torrance
310-539-3636

I know this isn't the closest or most convenient for all of socal, but if you can get there it'll be definitely worth it. Tell them I sent ya and they will take care of you.

When in So Cal, I do think these places are g00t

For parts, Definately worth it, including any Comptech related parts. I got 30 oil filters for about $4

As for service, I got some warranty work down at South Bay Acura. Jon is excellent and the mechanics that did work on it fixed my squeaky clutch

-aoib0t, who has some parts in the garge that need to be put on sometajm

Screw Thomas Acura,i went there to look at an R,and then after some talking he said i couldn't afford it and tried to sell me a GSR.So i went to Browning Acura in cerritos bought it that day, went back to Thomas and threw it in there face.Punk asses

So i can imagine what their service center is like.

If i ever need parts or have a question i go to Metro Acura in Montclair. These people are totally cool and their service is excellent too.

Also if you guys can't afford the Dealership prices on service,my parents own a repair shop,In Ontario, california.
