Default Quick S2K Inquiry.

I don't have an S2k per say, but it's definitely my next Honda.
I was wondering, could i use the cams from an AP1 an throw them into an AP2, or do I need the whole valve train an such? I'm thinking there is minimal power between the gen's so there's no point. or is there?
I heard they're gonna have one last generation of S2k's before they discontinue them. Oh an that it's gonna have an Acura symbol on them now.

haha. You could use the AP1 intake and exhaust cams in the AP2. Nothing else is needed. Im sure if you google it, you'll find plenty of info.

There is a new "prototype S2000" in the works but its not going to be badged by Acura.

The AP1 and AP2 heads are the same, the cams will bolt in with no problems. The valve trian of course, is not the same.

Here are the factory cam specs as listed on on crowers site...

http://www.briancrower.com/makes/honda/f20cf22c.shtml

Cam # Adv. Dur. Dur @ .050 Lift (in) Lift (mm)

USDM F20C (S2000 ’00-’03) Stock 300°/298° 226°/222° .498"/.459" 12.65/11.66

USDM F22C (S2000 ’04-up) Stock 296°/296° 224°/222° .487"/.475" 12.37/12.06

Yes you can use the AP1 cams on the AP2 but there's been little to no gains to report in stock forum. This is with a full tune of course. Do not even consider wasting your time if you are not going with a fully programmable EMS.

It is a popular modification to change out the intake cam on the AP2 motors for the longer duration AP1 cam if you are running an equal length manifold. If you are running a cast or log manifold then there would be virtually no gain, in fact a loss in power could result.
