Default How can a bad o2 sensor affect my car?

okay, when i bought my car the previous owner said the check engine light was on because of an o2 sensor.

Ive noticed the car can be sluggish in the lower rpms "before 3k".

How will a bad o2 sensor affect the way your car performs?

And how do i know what o2 sensor to get if my car is Frankenstiend together. haha

If its still obd0, get the one wire o2 sensor, if 0bd1 or obd2 get the 4 wire o2 sensor. It will affect fuel economy and overall performance.

There could be a reason your o2 sensor is giving the code. Check your car isn't running rich, vacuum leaks etc.

If the o2 sensor is bad the car will compensate for the too rich/too lean problem and lead to really REALLY bad gas mileage and REALLY poor performance. It is generally caused by bad timing, something with the plugs, the wires, or the dizzy. And believe me if it isn't that then check the o2 sensor because usually its the last to go out.

- Last thing to go out, and often the first thing replaced.
