i got a 94 eg with a shitty d15 and im putting a d16y8 head on it...right now my car is not running because the d15 head cracked so im out a car and i did all my research on this swap but i have a question...can i put the y8 head on with everything else with my stock ecu...i know vtec wont kick in but is it possible that it will run? and what kind of ecu does my eg have? thanks

 

your car should have a P06 if it is a 16 valve d15, if you put the d16y8 head on it then your timing is going to be off and everything, the better solution would be to put the d16z6 head on your d15 block if you are wanting to go through with the mini me.

yeah I know the z6 is basically the same thing but in order for it to work you would have to get a y8 mapping put on your ecu or try to get the timing on the cam set but it's still going to be off. Your stock ecu probably isn't going to run it considering the timing is also different on a d15 than the z6 so just putting the extra stress for the timing from the y8 just wouldn't be worth it. There are threads already here on HT over the z6 and y8 heads on the mini me swaps.

 

girl i did all my research i was just wondering what my stock ecu is, im putting the y8 head on and transfering my d15 cam gear onto my d16 cam and im using a z6 timing belt with the d15 dizzy, timing is not a problem with me and if your right about the ecu in my car then i can just get it chipped and itl be exactly the same as a p28..no extra stress on the y8 baby i got it
