Factory JDM ITR tint question
I recently bought a rhd 98 spec jdm itr and was trying to find out what % tint is on it from the factory. I have looked all over the internet and this forum and can't find any information on it. I know I can go to a tint shop and have them check it, but I don't want to bring it around a bunch of potential thieves if i dont have to.
Both of the rear windows and the hatch appear to be the same % and the front side windows are not tinted. The tinted windows say ASAHI M2L3 AS3 DOT20 on them. Any help from someone who knows about the factory JDM tint would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

As you can see there is no defineable line where the tint starts and ends even where the defroster heating element and wiring come together.

The drivers window is up and as you can see is not tinted; However the rears are tinted.

The factory glass is labeled AS3 which means it is 70% or darker factory tint (looks like somewhere around 35%)

The tint looks darker here than it actually is because there isn't much light in my garage.
Not saying anybody is wrong here...Just trying to find out what the %^# is going on lol.
Maybe it was an option that nobody got or maybe the dude in Japan had factory tinted glass installed after he bought it..I dont know...
oh and here is a post I found on HT where someone mentions factory tinted windows from a rhd teggy: https://honda-tech.com/forums/showth...2579678&page=2
just hit ctrl F and search for "tint" and its the first that pops up.
I think its just the thickness and the grade of the glass that they use that makes it look darker. But I'm pretty sure that they do not tint the glass on ITRs. By the way a really good tint job is done by removing the glass, so if it is visibly and unmistakeably tinted, the it could be just a really expensive tint job, or it could be spray or dipped tint.

all you guys that dont know about the tint should stop now!
its DO come with factory tint. actually its not a film its the actual glass that is tinted with some type of dye when they make the mold.
ctr's have them and itr;s have them. however they were standard on Rx's but an option on any other car.
only the quaters and the rear hatch will have them the front and the two front sides will not.
older eg's use to have a bronze tint all around same with crx's etc...
percentage i would say 30 percent.

My ITR had no tint. I had to get them tinted otherwise the red stitching on the seats would fade over time. I don't remember if they were ever offered as a factory option (maybe it was and I just forgot...don't know) but I do know that its not standard.

My Itr didn't come tinted but 2 of my buddys came with the factory "darkened" glass from Japan.
They're called privacy glass. it is an option in japan, for almost all jdm cars(ranging from estimas, alphards, evos.. you name it, they offered it). Look up the integra Rx brochure, and you'll see it there. Front untinted, rear tinted. My Rx came with privacy glass.

tinted. from the itrx brochure

untinted. from the stock itr brochure

tinted, the yellow one. from the stock itr brochure.
If I'm not mistaken its 70% darkness, meaning it lets 30% light thru. I could be wrong, and am more than pleased to be corrected.
