92 high output alternator?
ive been looking for a while for a high output alternator for a 92 accord and havent found anything, if nothing on a h/o even adding a second alternator would probly help, but any advice would help
thanks
thanks
car audio..?
i don't know of any high output direct replacement alternator. i do know that unless you want to get rid of power steering or A/C, you'll nearly have to cut a hole in the hood to fit a second alternator...
EDIT: oh wait...! first hit on Google, http://www.highoutputalternator.com/. you said you've been looking for a while... where have you been looking?
they list a 170 amp denso for a 92 accord.

I lol'd.
If you're doing it because of light dimming you need to read up. I will wager you will be throwing your money away and should just have better wiring or add a capacitor.

Yea, the issue with light dimming will a lot of times be an issue with the way your grounds are, or generally the under-hood wiring. I have been shopping for a grounding kit but everything I find is universal so I think I'm gonna end up using 4 gauge audio cable and make my own. A capacitor helps too, but then in my experience with them and from what I've read they hold the best charge the first time you use them and then thereafter they degrade in their power holding abilities.
I had a couple of 500 watt amps that would dim badly everything with every heavy bass note on the stock alt. I thought about caps but went with a HO 165amp alt on my 96 Civic EX. Haven't regretted it since. Have since added an in-car computer and monitor and the alternator can handle anything I dish out.
thanks hondamark thats exactly what i was looking for i obviously wasnt looking in the right places, its not so much for dimming as it is overall sound quality and not having to replace the battery all the time, im putting in (this is stupid yes) 2 15s and a hifonics 2600 rms amp, simply for the fact that i can say i have 2 15s in the trunk, as well as speakers and another hifonics 4 channel, and i know its a waste of money and you can get 12s that sound better and its gonna make the car explode but itll be pretty dope while it lasts, and honestly a capicitor isnt gonna cut it, a capacitors more for an even sound so big bass doesnt distort the high and mid sound, ive been installing for a while and worked at best buy and have never heard of a capacitor really making much of a difference but thanks for the input and thanks again for the link

wadelymon: i'm not so sure about your philosophy on capacitors. i am very interested to hear how the alternator upgrade works for you nontheless. i had been told that caps come first, but you seem to have the expertise on me.
