Default Aluminum paint cracking GSR Blades

Recently got a set of gsr blades for a really great price however on a 2 of the rims have pretty bad chipping to where the glass aluminum polish is cracking off leaving metal behind, if i tear it all down to metal and sand it from low to high grit... will mothers aluminum/metal polish pull this off?

Glass aluminum polish? Do you mean the clearcoat?

Stock, there is no colored paint, just clearcoat over the machined metal.

But yes, you can sand down paint and clear to just the bare metal under and polish it.

ive seen a thread on LS meshes, the person used paint stripper and then sanded it down...

Another question, will paint stripper remove the gsr blade's thick clear coat before i buy it..? the one thats cracking on mines feels like a very thick foil that had even cut my skin

op, i had the same problem with my blades so i took aircraft remover and sprayed the rim and let it eat up the thick clear coat. then just start sanding away grit by grit. polish and buff...which i still need to do lol. theres hope for your blades

i still need to sand with like 2k and buff them but there ok for now

A thick foil that cuts skin? Sounds like someone actually chrome plated the wheels at one point.

Paint stripper will not remove the copper (if used), nickel, and chrome layers that are used in chrome plating. Media blasting will probably need to be used.
