Default H22a Turbo

Building my 94 h22a engine for turbo, but im thinking of going standard compresson with performance pistons and rods and only about 7 pounds of boost. Wondering if its a good route to take? Any suggestions would be great.

You'll need to sleeve your block, so add about $1K to whatever you were planning on spending.

what are your goals? I did 326whp @ 11psi daily driving and beating it relentlessly for 3 years, in my opinion, with the little information you provided, I don't think it is even necessary to build.

Standard compression on an H22? I mean if you are "building" it as you say, and not just swapping the H22 and throwing a turbo on it, I would at least take the time to build it right and drop the compression down a little, that is a higher compression engine after all. I mean if you have not done the H22 swap, I would say stick with a F22B and boost it. Those things can handle boost all day.....but there have been some sick H22 boosts on here. Just use the search function.

agreed, from my understanding you may get away w/ 5-7lbs of boost on a stock block. But needs to be sleeved on H22.

I have an h22a turbo, stock motor, running 8lbs of boost, it's all about the tune. Having a good tuner is key

i know its all about the tune but isnt the h22a bottom end not iron sleeved like the f23a1? i thought i seen this somewhere. which is the reason f23's can hold more boost over h22 on stock bottom end.

My plan was to achieve around 350 whp on 8-10psi, from the looks of things im probably going to need to sleeve my block. I dont think i can run stock pistons and rods so i was going to stick around standard comp or maybe go a little lower comp for pistons and get forged rods, but i dont know a whole lot about turbos yet. Does this sound feasible to achieve 350 whp?

there is no need to build for 350whp, for the last year and a half I had my stock engine, I went to meth injection and got 366whp @ 12psi still with no problems whatsoever. The last thing you want is an overbuilt, overpriced setup for your goals trust me. If you really want forged pistons, go with a set of Mhale Gold Series which are FRM compatible so you won't have to sleeve the block. Leave the rods alone, they are good past 400 whp.

Good to know. i will need new pistons though, took the motor apart after i bought it and found out 3 of 4 had chunks falling off them. So far the only good thing about the motor is that it came with a spoon chipped p13 ecu which i have no clue what its chipped for. Tried getting some info from spoon, but they dont even know...

yes the Mahle's would be good with the frm sleeves, but I dont know how much power they can handle. I know there's a huge thread about Mahle's on here, but I haven't looked through it in a while so I dont really know what people are saying about them. And the Spoon chipped ecu is garbage. If I were you I would look into getting a P06 which can be converted to a P28.

they are good for 400whp all day long. If I could do my setup all over again, I would have went bone stock with a set of mhales @ 400whp and called it a day...
