Default Anyone ever replaced egr on a 94-97 Accord?

So a few months ago I cleaned up the egr ports on the intake manifold & such on my g/f's 96 accord (4cyl non-vtec 134k) & still stumbles & idles rough etc. It does not throw a cel. I wanted to take off the actual EGR valve & try cleaning it but could not seem to fit a 12mm socket on there flush, even with a u-joint due to the disc shape of egr valve. Before I attempted to take something apart & possibly break it, is there any way to take this off? I was going to try to remove those 2 arms to see if the disc part comes off & out of the way but was afraid of breaking it.
Thanks

what's the code?

use a "wobbler" socket instead of a u-joint. also plenty of penetrant lube.

I talked to a friend today & he said I can remove the straps holding on the disc shaped diaphram & get at the bolts.

I've taken it off before, and yes its a PITA to get the nuts off. I used a 1/4 rachet, 1/4 extension, 1/4 socket for more room; since, the 3/8 socket is too big and no room. I think its those tools that I used; I don't remember.
