Looks to me that they control the range of motion of that first rocker... but this is only useful when the rockers are not locked together to ride the VTEC lobe correct?

Bump! They're listed as timing plate and timing spring. Question being, can I eliminate them from the valve train since they're not taking up any slack on the rocker arm rods?

They look like they have a part in controlling the rocker arms. I'm sure Honda engineers had good reason use them. Why are u trying to eliminate them?

They were giving me issues with my solid rocker setup, limiting the range of motion the rockers had while riding the cam lobes. I got them adjusted and functioning properly tho, so it's all good.
