Default why is this in my hose? and what is the hose called??

this came out of a hose that i need to replace on my 1986 accord lx. the hose itself came disconnected just above the oil filter and this spring was sticking out. so i pulled it out of the hose and also this other part was sittin inside of the spring as it is in the last picture. the other end of the hose is connected just below what i believe is the intake manifold (could be very very wrong im not sure) so finally my question is what hose is this? and why is this spring and whatever else the other thing in it inside of it?

These parts look like from your thermostat that fell apart.
Since the thermostat parts are there, it must be water hose.
