93 del sol si 167k miles smokes and burns oil dont know if its valve seals or piston rings someone help me

also if the car sits overnight when i start it in the morning after 10 mins it shutsoff.... after letting it sit for about 5-10 mins it starts back up and if fine for the rest of the day....... HELP

 

do a compression test

 

i did and it came back fine im probly going to put in a H22 swap just need to know what this is before in pretty sure its valve seals due to the compression test being ok and it also smokes all the time cold or hot
in thinking the shut off is the dizzy but im not sure

 

does it smoke all the time? If it is the valve seals then more than likely it will smoke when you first crank the car up and in between shifts. It will smoke like a bluish color. If it smokes black in between shifts then thats running rich, so make sure it is smoking blue. If it is smoking a greyish white then it is more than likely your rings.

 

it smokes all the time deff blue on the road but when im just sitting there and i give it a good rev its white and blue

ok so it sounds like your rings are blown, the shut off problem i'm going to try to search around and see what I can find.

 

thats what i thought but the compression test came back good and i thought if the rings are shot it would stop smoking a little once it warms up?

 

nope, if it was the valve seals it would stop smoking when it warms up. with rings, mine done this on the z6 and it smoked terribly.
