So heres the great debate question that I want to know. Is there a Difference between the water pumps on B series, LS vs. VTEC? I have ls/vtec and am using stock ls water pump with GSR belt on B16 head. The part #s for the LS and GSR water pump have the same part # at your local Auto Zone etc.... Question is teeth count....22 on all?

 

Ls should have a 19 teeth count. the itr and gsr have 22 teeth. It all has to do cavitation. the faster it spins at low rpms, it create air bubbles, and by having the less efficient vtec water pump, it spins slower at low rpms, and faster at high rpms to prevent cavitation at lower rpms.

 

see i keep hearing that they have 19 teeth on ls but i have both LS and GSR pumps and I counted 22 on both. They even have the same part number. Its freaking confusing me.haha

 

You probably have the same water pump. And who ever had the ls had before you probably put it in.

 

yeah, i switched out my ls water pump to a gsr one. ls(19 teeth) and gsr/itr(22). and always use the belt that matches your water pump.

 

see thats what I was thinking. It was owned by an older couple but her husband did work at the Acura dealership. so who knows he might have hooked her up with a better pump. I was just curious abot that. Thanx for the input
