95 CX Emissions.. F*CK MY LIFE!!!!
95 Civic CX with a d16z6 swap. Emissions time has rolled around finally and the f*cking thing won't pass.
First time we went in the score was HC 1.32 FAIL (Passing is .80), CO 13.65 FAIL (Passing is 12), NOX 1.82 PASS..
So we get a cat put on.. but my dumbass took it straight over after without giving some "break in time" and ran the test again. This time HC .85 FAIL (Passing is .80), CO 16.04 FAIL (Passing is 12), NOX .42 PASS..
So then I figure out to break in the cat.. drove it for a few days, around 150 miles.. changed out the shitty Autolite plugs to NGK as per the timing cover. Changed the wires out from Bosch to NGK. Apparently the plug boots were popping off the spark plugs and causing misfires. Then I put a pint of denatured alcohol into a full 10 gallon tank of gas and ran this for about 40 miles before taking it to the station.
So the last test that happened today was HC 1.64 FAIL (Passing is .80), CO 12.45 FAIL (Passing is 12), NOX 1.15 PASS..
WTFFFFFFFFF. Only thing I can think of is distributor cap/rotor hasnt been changed. Oil is due for a change, not that it probably matters. Oh, and I guess the fuel injectors could be going..??
SOMEONE F*CKING HELPPPPPPPPPPPP!!!!!!!!! She has little to no money to fix this car and has to drive it to work daily.

sounds like you have some missfires or just weak spark. so cap and rotor/ plugs wires would be a great place to start.
do an oil change since you probaly have raw fuel in the oil. it should help with HC and CO.
your motor is running lean...and your computer is riching the mixture resulting in you failing

So I've changed cap/rotor/plugs/wires/oil and filter.. still unable to pass HC and CO. Checked timing as well and its set to recommended timing.
I haven't the slightest clue what could be causing this.

dont be cheap and just get it diagnose this will it will be CHEAPER in the long run...
ur injectors prolly has leaks...o2 sensor is prolly out...
alot of smog shop will tell you that timming is off but they dont know JACK sht...honda has a weird timming that is recommended for the car...
so go ahead and get it diagnose and figure out the problems...DONT BE CHEAP...
trust me its well worth IT>

My guess is the O2 sensor is out, it is evidently not making the car run at stoich. Which is the o2 sensor job. MY civic dx uses so much fuel its not funny, It is the o2 sensor. ITs one of those universal jobs, that someone has used to lengthen and splice into the stock plug. (GHETTO)
Momentary OFF TOPIC -- Do you have an O2 sensor code or have you tested the sensor and know it's bad? In another thread, you mentioned that you run without a thermostat. You might want to install one to see whether your gas mileage improves. A thermostat will shorten the time it takes for the engine to reach optimal operating temperature, even in a warm climate like Florida. As you know, prior to the engine reaching proper temperature, the ECU forces the engine to run in a preprogrammed fuel-rich mode.

back on topic now, lol

This is my girl's car so I rarely drive it but one thing I noticed today when dropping her off at work was there is some random jittering while cruising or giving it 20-30% throttle. It's so slight that its hard to notice at first but its like the car is bucking but just ever so slightly.
like i said try replacing the coolant temp sensor. it might be going bad but not bad enough to throw a code. if its reading off, it can cause rich conditions as well. theyre cheap too.
This is true, though it's pretty easy to test the resistance of the ECT sensor before replacing. This could save money.
