i am building up a ls/vtec and iam thinking about taping oil jets on the b18a block. i would use the ones from a b16 block but i don'tknow if at first it will work and second whether it willmake the block last longer.

i am think of using my b16 piston from a sir2.or any others if it will work.

 

if your using a p30 piston i highly suggest getting a super thick head gasket to keep your compression down a little bit, the p30 pistons in a B18A block and B16A head yield like 11.8:1 compression. http://www.cspeedracing.com/howto/co.../compcalc.html

If your using a factoy piston then you should use the jets. aftermarket pistons will disapate heat more quickly so you would not have to use them. It does depend on the type of material they are made from.

 

What's wrong with 11.8:1? Super-Thick Head Gasket? You gotta be kidding me...

Why would he wanna increase Quench Distance AND Lower his compression? That's going to cause more problems then tuning 11.8:1 Well.

Also, 93 Octane is available in the Chicagoland-area. Tuned well, and he could run 12.8:1+

Perhaps DarkSubRosa didn't know he could get 93 octane. Perhaps he gets screwed like all the people is Cali that only get 91 octane.

 

Buy forged pistons, run p30's with a p72 head, you'll have awsome compression then!!!!

 

11.8 compression ratio on stock cast pistons?? umm, you can go ahead and do that, but im not going to risk it, I'll wait til I can get forged ones, and yes I have 93 octane.
