Default 1999 Accord lx

My wife has a 1999 honda accord lx with a ulev in it. She blew the motor and I wanted to do a swap. I was wondering what would be the easiest swap? My buddy told me to do a prelude engine. Thanks in advance.

under the assumption that you want to swap in something with a noticable performance gain, i'd agree the H23 or H22 prelude engine would be relatively straight foreward. there is also the F20B, similar to the H22 but sourced from the european and JDM Accord SiR-T.

however, you say easiest... another F23 would be easiest...

i would start reading now though. read the FAQ's page in the accord froum and the prelude forum. if you expect to do this on budget and with as few headaches as possible, you'll want to do a good bit of research.

I took a look at the faqs, I just didnt know what engine was out of what. Eg I didnt know that H22 was from a prelude. I was kinda wanting to move away from the sohc to a dual also. I have a crx with a zc in it and I am loving it. However, my wife doesnt need that much for a dd but I do want a noticeable gain from the ulev. I think I will do some more research on the H23, i dont mind having to splice wire harnesses and all that. I just dont want to have to make new motor mounts or delete the ac cuz she loves that thing. However, when I looked through the faq there wasnt much on the 6th gen swaps. Is the 6th gen that different from the 5th? Thanks for the input.

I have a 98 accord and the best way to gain power is to go with the H23A Prelude motor or go research the G23 is the best for our 6th gens but i'm currently under the process of swapping my H23a in. Due to my auto tranny is slipping.

well if your not looking for preformance and u just need to put a new engine in with the least cost... get another f23a1(usa version) or JDM f23a - jdm f23a motor just made in japan..

i blew my motor recently and did the JDM swap. i go tthe engine for 670$ shipped to my door. you can prolly go to a junkyard somewhere and find a F23a1 for 400-500$ but it will most likly have over 100k miles on it. the reason i picked F23a is because motors that are shipped from japan have less then 50k miles normaly

if u do decide to buy the JDM f23a over a F23a1 then save your old motor parts, its a good idea to just swap exhaust and intake manifolds from ur blown motor and place on your new one.

you could read my post of my swap here
