The D16Z6 in my del Sol has a burnt valve or valves in the 2nd cylinder. Its making 34 psi, where all of the others are making 160 to 165. I haven't pulled the head off fully, but my friend used a peroscope to inspect them.

Anyway, my question is, do i replace the problem valves, or do i replace all of the valves? I don't want to get screwed by the machine shop...Also, what else is necessary when valves are replaced? What else do i need to buy for a valve replacement?

Also, is this too hard of a job to tackle myself? I don't want to take on a job that is out of my league, but i am not made of money...

 

If it were me... I would go ahead and do them all. That is if you have the money. I would replace the retainers as you go and maybe the valve stem seals if you burn any oil. GL.
