Icon6 vtec question.....

i got a gsr swap in my 89 ef.......and i think my vtec is not working......how do i know it works????????........thanx

any codes? is your engine oil low? if so put enough oil in and test it again.. also it wont enguage if the engine isnt warm enough..

gsr swap? obd1 or obd2 i guess? 89 ef's have a mechanical speed sensor, obd1 or 2 gsr have an electrical speed sensor, remember that vtec only kicks in when all 4 conditions are met(rpm, vehicle speed, oil presure, & temperature). in this case, your vtec shouldn't be working because there's no vss input, plus check engine light is on right?

with a gsr you should deff. be able to hear it engage unless you are deaf...

false. just because the ed chassis had a mechanical vss does not mean it lacks an electronic output. the guage cluster converts the mechanical movement of the speedo cable into an electronic pulse which is then sent to the ecu.

to the OP: like was already said, you should feel it engage. if you don't then see if you have a CEL indicating what the problem is that's preventing it from working properly. then go from there.

vtech are pretty subtle when they engage. or at least the ones i've heard. i really don't see the use in them, i'm more of a d16a kind of guy. turbo for life!

Yeah when I press the buttons on my Vtech Phone it isn't very loud. I want that **** to scream when I push the buttons. Where did you buy your phone, I want to hear it engage?

When I hit VTEC in my Car it pulls wheelies.
