I have a 97 Honda accord ,4 cylinder ...problem is my cooling fans only turn on when I turn the A/C on,or when I turn the car off they also turn on. they will not run otherwise! Can anyone help me ?

 

my car fan runs with A/C on, which its suppose to. it used to turn on for about 5min after driving then shutting the engine off, but it no longer does that because i replaced the thermostat (old one was stuck) and at the time my temps were a little higher.

as long as youre not over heating or getting near that point, you dont need to be worried about the fans coming on or not.

 

if I sit and idle for 5,10 minutes ...it will heat up all the way ! Fans will NOT kick on unless I turn the A/C swith on . thats the problem

 

check the fan switches located on the top and bottom radiator hose at the engine side of each one

well,I changed them & started the car,let it warm up ...fan never kicked on. shut the car off & the passenger side fan kicked on. ?? im confused

 

!! got it! it was the switch on the rear ,thermostat housing ...thanks!

 

yes one is for car on and other for car off....not a problem always here to help....its a common issue

 

Im having the exact same problem with my 03 accord 2.3...I realize it's the wrong forum, I found this thread in a search, but any suggestions?
