so i have a 1994 honda civic hatchback cx..and i have a 95 si d16z6 swapped in it...and i need to smog it but i don't think i am gunna pass because my speedometer doesn't read the speed ima travelin at..so my question is can i pass the smog with my speedometer broken or should i do the smog illegally? or fix the speedometer..i don't have a cel or anything..but it runs really rich..

 

Fix the speedometer.

 

you can pass, because its the speedometer. as a future smog tech we read off of the machine because of tire size and rim size the speedo is always off. and its not part of any of the functional test or has to do with the emissions.

 

If you car is running rich, you might want to replace o2 sensor. if you know your running rich, you should know you might not pass smog, but yeah you can smog your car even tho speedo is not working. No need to illegal smog, because you dont have a b series swap.
