Default missed once, now miss everytime

I drove the 07 si, and tried quickshifting 1st - 2nd...missed...

Now everytime I try again, it'll miss everytime...thought it was me, so I had my friend drive it, and it missed everytime with him too...he said when he drove it, it grinded once, and all the other times, it just wouldn't go in at all...

What do you guys think it could be?

Oh and its an 07 si...he told me he heard about a recall for this trans

he bought it used with 40k, and told me that before when he started driving it, it would grind like this all the time...then he didn't vtec it for a week and it was fine after...I drive it and miss this one time, and now it misses everytime

Well next time be a little more specific, but here's my analysis.

Anytime you're missing gears or can't hit a gear, there are about 20 possible problems. Stemming all the way from the shift linkage to the transmission, clutch, master cylinder, clutch lines. Is it missing while driving aggressively or just all the time?

I find the same thing, with the 1-2 shift. 1st gear doesn't like to go much above 18mph or so. When redlining, you'll be up around 24-25mph at least.

That happened to me at the drag strip, made me look like a fool. But try shifting at 7.5k ish instead of at redline. You should be able to put it in 2nd gear then.

it might, dependin on what the actual problem is. if its a problem with ur clutch or inside the tranny than no. but if its from too much movement then yes it will

Many people that have the ITD rave about how it smooths out their shifts.

I think there is something wrong with the syncros. The only time I miss 2nd is when I'm sloppy with my clutch timing and it's my fault. I think the Si's have triple cone syncros for first and 2nd gears and doubles there after. That's way better than the older cars that only had one syncro for each gear. If you are gonna short shift the gears then you've just taken all the acceleration potential out of the already torqueless cars we have. They shift just fine at 8500 the syncros don't have a problem keeping up. Minus the 3rd gear problem that some have had, I think these trannys are sweet. The shifting is very notchy and direct in my opinion. So if you are having I'd say it's driver error. But OP I think your friend's is messed up and had a rough begginning.

honda has issued a service bulletin,so they must be admitting problem. when you think about it 3rd gear takes the most beating. I shift so as to bypass if possible but haven't personally had problems yet. But make no mistake this is a genuine documented issue that people have gotten honda to fix. jpweigand

Ive had the same probelm with the 1-2 shift, but you have to slow ur shift down just a bit so it wont grind. Especially if you have a short shifter. The TSB is only for third gear and they have to reproduce the problem. The mechanics drive it very slowly and shift very slowly therefore most the time they can't reproduce the problem. I was told by the mechanic that the tranny was made a lil notchy and that 3rd's synchros are a lil tight.

As dumb as this will sound...

I swear I seem to have a rev-hang issue only in certain gears.

1-2 it happens, which is why you need to wait a second under hard acceleration to shift without it popping out.

2-3 it also happens occasionally (this gear seems to have been helped by the installation of an ETD).

3-4 is perfectly fine. I can powershift the fvk out of 3rd, and 4th picks it up no problem, with no rev-hang at all.

4-5 and 5-6 are also fine.

^^^^Come to think of it that really is pretty true for me too. That is weird haha maybe due to the gears being shorter down low
