Default piston ring question :)

obviously the gold ring goes on bottom with a scraper ring underneath and on top , then what order do they go in? theres an all black ring and a blakc one just like it with a silver edge , does that one go on top? this is my first time with this so advice/support/answer my question only plz n thanks.

oh yEAH I guess it would help if you knew what kinda pistons lol , they are ycp vitaras with hastings rings

I havent done this before and didnt realize you need to set the gapping I thought they came gapped and just put em on but I realized theres more to it than that and I need some help lol

Hasting has some info on their site

They also have tech support - much better than asking people on the net.

Setting gap isn't all that hard.
Make sure you have the filing tool.

You set a ring into the cylinder and press it a little ways in using a piston. This will square up the ring inside the cylinder.
Take a feeler gauge and measure the gap in the ring. File as needed.
It's a good idea to spray a little WD40 in the cylinder and on the rings to keep them from scratching.

even if you are a tad rude about it. thank you buddy ! you guys have to realize , that when you are searching for something you dont know much about , its harder to get results , you dont know exactly what tp type ion when searching. just FYI. but thanks for posting thats a huge help.

Hey no problem. Just make sure you convert your bore size from Millimeters to Inches otherwise you will come out with crazy numbers.
