Aftermarket springs on OEM shocks??
Ok heres the deal, i bought 16" rims for my EG coupe and really dont like the monster truck stance.. and want to help it but really dont want to drop a grand on coilovers right now. So i was wondering if i bought a good set of Eibach springs and were to put them on my stock shocks would it work or do i need new everything and or would it be cheaper to just go for coilovers, i want to do this the most efficaint way and have it look Clean...LMK what you guys got...
Thanks alot for the help, NICK

Yeah it'll stock shocks r pretty strong and even if they do blow u can just get em at a junk yard for cheap.get coilovers though.
dont waste your time on stock shocks. i have done it, they will blow out and ride very bad.
there are full coilovers that are not that expensive and will yield better results than a spring on oem shocks

Aftermarket springs will blow your oem shocks sooner or later because it can't handle aftermarket springs.
Save your money and do it right the first time.

Coilovers are the full thing, I think. They basically are the struts and the springs, and it's complete. I bought Tanabe brand coilovers for my EK sedan, and it was only $801.00 on AssaulTECH.com
You don't need to race in order to have a full coilover set. It's just easier and better for you in the long run because it's the complete thing. It's adjustable and you can also lower it and raise it whenever you want to.
Try it out. That's just my preference though.

I had Tein S-techs with my stock shocks for a long time with no problems. My friend's rear shocks blew when using S-techs in his '02 Civic. So although mine never blew, who knows how much longer they would have lasted.
I ended up buying H&R Race springs ($200) and used Koni Sports for $400 (1 month used). My point is to look for deals, and don't be too afraid of buying used stuff. If it's high end, chances are that there's still a lot of life left. But remember to ask questions before buying, such as if they were ever used for racing.
For a little more I could have had brand new Omni Power coilovers, which I've heard great reviews on, but these Konis are pretty sweet. If you want brand new and under $700, get Omni Power.

Sweet,, i have bought alot of stuff on the marketplace, and have been on the lookout but when i see them there all like 1200, 1000$ i cant do that, yet so i will do some look ups on OMNI power coilovers i know Koni's are good, Do they ride nice with the HKS springs??
are u looking for performance or just going for the look?
if you just want to go for the look, my suggestion, go to a junk yard and buy the complete stock shock/strut/front forks from a EF civic. you'll get about an inch, to an inch n half drop, and it'll only cost you about $50-75.

I have got a set of OMNI power sport version coil overs with 12k/10k springs and an extra set of, I believe 10k/8k springs as well that I am removing from a EG6 that was built for the track. I am not much into track cars, so these are coming off and going with a set of bilstein struts with neuspeed springs. PM me if interested.

i had tein s-tech on stock struts on my dc4, the struts had probably like 70k on them when i put the springs and i used the car for about 2 years with those springs and about 25k miles with no problem at all..i even sold the car and buyer was super happy of how the car handled....so i would say go for it if the drop is less than 1.8 all the way around...im about to put some sportlines on my stock shocks in a week..
teins or sportlines most likely will not blow your shocks very quickly, my freinds has had sport lines on his oem shocks with 50k to start and then put 25k ish on the and they have yet to blow and still ride good, uncle has sport lines with around 60k on them havnt blown yet either.
tlarimer, sent you a PM..LMK what you got in them, as for Springs i was looking into Sportlines and have heard good things about them along with the TEIN's, but imo TEIN's stuff isnt junk so anything they make is great but im prob just going to go for coilovers its a little to risky to just to springs on stock shocks and why waste the money if they blow in 10K miles..
