Default D16y7 burning oil Please help!!!!!!!

I Own a 1996 honda civic Lx. I bought the car with CEL codes P0302 and some P14** random misfire code and the blue smoke coming out of the exhaust! Anyway i pinpointed the misfire to cylinder 2 when i pulled the plug that cylinder reaked of oil and the spark plug was fouled with oil. when i pulled that plug out and put in a new one the car ran perfect for about 2 minutes before it started runing like crap again! So i decided it could be 1 of 3 things Head gasket/ piston rings or vavles/valve stem seals. So i checked around the mating service of the head and block to see if there was any leaking, there was none so i moved on to the next possible cause! So like a idiot i listened to one of my friends that works for honda that told me "It can't be your head or valve stem seals"; So i bought a piston ring set for $40 from majestic honda that only came with a set for one cylinder! So i pulled the head and now im not sure how to tell if it even is the piston ring that's the problem! Can anyone help me with possible idea???????

Well if it was constantly smoking blue while running, your piston rings are most likely shot (or just that one cylinder you were talking about). Shot valve seals are when it smokes on start up from a cold start.

Well since you have the head out, have it cleaned and machined at a machine shop. Have em check all the valve guides, valve seals, valve seats and the valves themselves. If you want your oil burning to stop, you should in addition remove the block and have it honed then install the pistons with new piston rings.

But I personally think it's not worth the hassle to rebuild a D16Y7. You can find a replacement one someone might be willing to sell for a couple hundred bucks at the most and you could spend way less than rebuilding.

Always heard of good customer service experience with H motors online. There's a thread around somewhere and nothing but good reviews.
