Icon6 D15B7 Oil Pressure Question...

I just put a D15b7 in my hatch. The guy I bought it from said it had been sitting a while so I needed to prime the oil pump first. Pull plugs, ecu fuse, turn over for 15 or so seconds, repeat. I did that (Several times) and while I am turning it over I consistently see 20-25lbs of pressure on the gauge. That pressure will stay up as long as I am turning over the key. obviously when I stop the key, it drops.

I then get out, put the plugs back in, put the fuse back, start the car up, and at first the gauge reads like 40 or so psi then gradually, over the next few minutes, will drop to zero...If at any point in that decline I rev it at all, that rate of decline will increase briefly, then hold for a second, then continue to steadily head for zero. There is no sort of bearing knock, ticking, or otherwise. I try not to run it much at all once it drops too low...

Any Ideas of what might be the problem? Do you think the oil pump is shot? maybe the screen might be clogged? Hell, Im open to all suggestions at this point.

Any help/experiences would be appreciated

Myche

My guess would be the pump is gone or possibly OPS, oil pressure sensor. 94

I just wanted to come back and update this thread with the final fix to this problem in case someone else ever experiences this problem:

I Dropped the oil pan then I removed the oil pickup tube to see if maybe, just maybe it might be clogged...
Sure as ****, it was TOTALLY clogged up with trash. I would guess partially from the miles on it (which I have no idea of how many) and partially from it sitting for a while... Who knows, but it was completely clogged up.

I cleaned the top part of it up and, while I don't know much about "sucking" or "blowing" I decided to give it a shot... I could barely draw a tiny amount of air through it in either direction. It was so clogged that when holding it upright with the pickup and screen pointing down, I sprayed brake cleaner in the top part of the tube and the tube completely filled up and ran out of the top. It held it too. I shook it around a bit and the solvent started breaking loose all of the funk inside of it. I continued working it with the spray until it was completely unclogged and clean.

BTW... There was NO metal like from spun bearings or anything like that. It was all just, I dunno, like some various grime, and some sort of a fibrous like substance, like maybe from an oil filter breaking down? I have no idea. It is all clean and all clear now and the car has great oil pressure now.
