Default Carbon fiber hood restore

my girlfriend wants to restore her carbon fiber hood on her 99 civic.

I dont have pictures of it, but the hood has some white haze, and sun burn on it, but the sides of the hood seem perfectly fine.

can someone help me with the steps of the proper way to restore the hood or to make it look 'new' again.

all i did with mine was wet sand with 1500-2000grit... then waxed and polished it... i dont know if theres a more technical and/or correct way to do this but thats how i did it...

either that. or get it professionally re-cleared

my gf's hood looks really shitty except on the sides. So does anyone else know what i can do restore it?

it worked for me. but failed over time eventually

the uv protection in the clear coat was already compromised so i think the only thing i could've done to restore it permanently was get it recleared

I'm really not trying to be rude here, but there is like a thread a week on how to do this. Do a quick search, and you'll see a whole bunch of suggestions within other threads.

You will need to re-shoot clear coat, but search for the specifics of what grits to sand with, etc do a search.

I blocked mine with 180, 220, then 320 and re-cleared it not long ago. Pretty simple, looks great now!

^ you can do that and then instead of clear coat take it to a marine place and get it gelcoated it will protect it from salt uv and stuff like that
